Infrared reciver un SATNAV

Anybody knows if the infrared receiver un the right of stanav screen is connected and activated?? I own a Panasonic remote for the SatNav claimed to be the same built in the RX-8 but it doesn't work...

No idea if is there something to switch on (software --> in the SATNAV hidden menus??? or hardware??

As far as what I've read on the forums, there isn't any use for it right now. Who know maybe in the future it'll be an accessory Mazda will sell. I'd love to hack the firmware and make it play DVD movies too!

We're currently unsure if that port works in the North American cars because I don't think any of us have remotes for the Panasonic system. It is possible that there's a switch that needs to be turned on in one of the back doors. I don't recall seeing it in my many explorations.
