Angry I'm fed up with the single disc CD player!

I have the single disc CD player and it skips all the damn time. Its been doing this ever since I got the car but now its really starting to drive me nuts. Are there any aftermarket alternatives to replace the factory cd player? I was thinking about upgrading speakers and such in another month or so but would a factory 6-disc in dash changer make sense if I wanted to upgrade the speakers later on? Any suggestions?

FYI - 6 disc has 12 sec. anti-skip buffer.

Are your roads crappy? Mine has not skipped yet in 13,000 miles. Makes me think you have a bad unit. See what the dealer will do for you.

there is another entire thread on how problematic the 6 disc changer is...go figure? I've heard the single disc is much better then the 6 disc...but I've heard the best is the MP3 drive...besides it is really inexpensive at Rosenthal or Trussville or Canzoomer Mazda

but I don't care I'm going with the Maz/Alp PIE aux in anyway...then getting an ipod or a carputer

Neither my stock cd player or mp3 player have skipped even once on me. But the roads here aren't really bumpy.

Mazdaradiodoc knows ALL about Mazda headunits.

For whatever it's worth, I swapped my single CD for a 6 CD changer shortly after I bought the car, and have had not one skip. It's an easy swap.

Thanks for the info. Is this the manual that came with the 6-CD changer, the RX-8 Owner's Manual, or something RX-8 owner's don't normally get?

I never had any skips with my stock single CD player nor have I had any with my changer.

we get the 6-disc from factory here in europe. its good, skipped a couple of times (very bumpy roads here in my country) but I wish I had the mp3 player...
I would upgrade it, but I don't feel like throwing away a 6-disc changer yet...

Why do people seek head units that will play MP3's when the stock single disk unit will play them fine?

the stock player doesn't do mp3s. But you can buy an OEM replacement that will for something like $250.

Dude, my first day going in to work after I got my 8, I played a disk that I'd burned that morning. The single disk head plays MP3's great.

I think there is a miscommunication going on...Ellar jason is right...the stock cd unit is only a CD drive...now you can convert MP3s to wav (actually aiff but that is to confusing to relay) and burn it to a disk with a max of 80 mins (most programs automatically convert and burn the files) but with the stock unit you CANNOT burn them with 700MB of Mp3 files and play them...for that you need the MP3 cdrom module installed (replacing the stock unit) maybe you had it installed and you didn't even know it (did you buy it used?)

How many songs do you have on your "mp3 cd"?

If you have more than 100, you have mp3s, If you can only fit around 18, you're burning redbook.

you can get a 6 disc mp3 cdplayer...just get the Maz/Alp PIE adaptor and hook up an alpine 6disc mp3 changer (wont be in dash though) personally I'd rather have a single dvdrom drive that plays: cds, mp3 cds, mp3 dvds...like my dvd based discman (works as an external drive for a comp as well)

IN DASH 6 disc mp3 and/or DVD is out for other vehicle manufatures. I assume Mazda will offer this in the near future.

Just bought my MX8 yesterday and have an MP3 player which I want to connect. Do you know if this can be done through a rear AUX connection? If not what is this replacement unit that will work.
Thanks

This thread will explain aux in for the rear connector.
The normal single cd module installed will not play mp3 disc but you can buy a mp3 module to replace it.

It was typo..I got the RX not MX...I received some info on attaching a cable to the unit to connect my MP3 player. I have a Belkin FM tranmitter but not powerful enough to get a clean signal. I know IPOD make a transmitter, has anyone used this and do you get a clear reception?
