Hardhitter: you can always buy terminal cups to install on your boxes so when you go to the strip or race you can take the subs/amps out... thats one thing i had in mine when i did mine..

here are some pics i took before i had to strip my paint and repaint my boxes...
I am doing the same with 2 8w7's and 2 JL 250/1

SYNDiK8 Greetz.

Here is my setup. It includes:

2 x Rockford Fosgate P3SD410 10" DVC Shallow Mount Subwoofer
1 x Rockford Fosgate T400-4 Amplifier
1 x Rockford Fosgate T400-2 Amplifier
1 x Rockford Fosgate P1692S 6 x 9 Twin-Drive Full Range Speaker Set
1 x Rockford Fosgate P163C 6.5 3-Way Full-Range Speaker Set
1 x Rockford Fosgate 1FD Capacitor
1 x Rockford Fosgate PEQ Remote Control

I wouldn't say it's really worth it ($3500), but if you want good sound and you have no space, these shallow mount subs will def do the trick.

I replaced 2 x 12" DVC MTX Thunder 8500 Series for these for the enclosure size & I don't regret it
You used shallow mount subs also? I have 2 shallow mount pioneers waiting to be installed. Did you do the work yourself?

I'm curious as to how other people have built enclosures for shallow mount subs. I'm trying to build mine in the 8inx12in space behind my rear strut bar flush against the rear seats.

I could never do a set-up like you have been I need to have enough trunk space to fit a hockey bag.

I like to the see the systems that make great use of space. Still keeping a functional trunk is important.
Though I do like the look of amp boxes and such, but you can't use your trunk anymore

My most recent pics from last month's Texas HeatWave car show

I'm running all SoundStream equipment which includes 2 reference series 12"s for bass, and their Pro Series up front consisting of 2- 6.5, 2- gigantosaurus tweeters, and 2- 8" midbass in the doors, for mid/high. I have yellowtop going to a huge cap using 0 gauge wire etc., I also have a D3 running it all installed in a handmade custom dashpiece, and the clock/ amb temp buttons are now in a scratchbuilt ashtray lid. (we took a mold off the oem piece) My next show is in October and there's a few changes coming so I'll have more pics then

yeah, pretty common in the car audio business, if shop A sells kicker and is closer than xxx miles to shop B, and shop A has been carrying it forever, shop B cannot carry it. A lot of the brands/distributors are VERY territorial, same reason there's really only one store in all of Austin that sells JL etc.

I could film the front stage, but it just wouldn't be the same in all honesty I really think you'd be pleasantly surprised, **** man, how far are you from Austin?

Those soundstream tweets are harsh as hell, ive never been a fan of Metal tweeters. your kicks looks like there on Axis, last set of metal tweets i would say i can live with is the Focal Byrillium. However they were off axis on the A pillars, it was a very natural sound.

Best compact soft dome ive heard were the Rain bow Platinums (which i have owned) nothing and i mean nothing touches them. However i wouldnt mind a set of Scan Revelators.

But Sound Stream is not the company they use to be, never will be again. After the acquisition by power acoustics, there stuff has become more flash than anything else. Decent equipment and pretty cheap, but i wish they can go back to the good old days of the Rubicons.

I have a Tru tech C-07 that im playing with right now, its a beast, I cant wait until my Tube C-07 comes in.

I've seen and experienced otherwise in regards to SoundStream, I'm not sure what you mean by "flash", especially since 2 of my good friend's cars who have nothing but SoundStream equipment in them dominated their class in numerous regional competitions all last year and went on to take 2nd in nationals (would have gotten first but there were some deductions for technicalities we were unaware of until it was too late since it was only our first year last year) in both their respective classes as well. My enclosures are a hair off axis intentionally, but you can't really see that unless you view the car in person. I'm not sure what you mean by harsh, my tweeters are very well balanced and sound very "blended in" with everything else, I don't get harsh at all when I'm listening to it every day, if anything, not a day goes by where I don't hear things I've never heard before in songs I've listened to a million times. Those subs have a very clean natural sound as well, which is awkward considering they have aluminum cones and most of the time that type of sound is only possible using paper etc. I use my car and my stereo every day for hours at a time without ever having issues, no problems at all, it's been absolutely flawless, and I've been running their stuff exclusively for 3 years now, which would seem to me to be a far cry from flash right? or?
One other thing worth mentioning is they're aware of how a lot of people want the "old SoundStream back" and they're working very hard to get back to that, unlike some of these other "buy outs" who are just out to make a buck and could care less etc. I've talked too and I work with these guys at the shows we do, just the fact they're even supporting a booth and car shows and they embrace our feedback on their various products (especially on their radios) speaks volumes (haha)about where they're trying to go and what they're trying to accomplish.
Some of those brands you mention are way out of league for the average car stereo person, must be nice to be able to afford hand built exotica like Tru Tech, I'm not quite there yet (my buddy's shop probably can't even get it anyway) but maybe some day I'll be baller enough Do you have any experience with the Digital Designs stuff? (http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/default.asp) They have a car they're touring with which is nuts, has 4 8" subs in a bizarre tubelike enclosure, one of the best sounding cars I've heard in a really long time. Anyway, end of hijack, let's see some more trunk shots dang it!

Digital design subs are ridiculous, I have a friend who put 2 15" DD's in an escalade, the box takes up the entire trunk area, no more 3rd row seats haha. That thing was the loudest system in El Paso.

My system is tame in comparison, but I just finished it today. I have a custom form fitting fiberglass sub enclosure wrapped in trunk carpeting to match. I cut the mounting board out of 1/2 inch MDF, form fit into the trunk recess, and painted a high gloss black with hours of sanding for an ultra smooth finish. Topped it off with 3 layers of Poorboys Wheel Sealant. It's extra thick wax that really brings out the gloss of the clearcoat.

Components:
Alpine SWS-1043D 10" subwoofer set at 2ohm
Alpine MRP-M500 mono amplifier

I am also planning on removing the red trunk light and using blue LEDS in a pattern to light the trunk.

Oh, I should also point out the I made a custom fiberglass pod for my Sirius unit. It is in the ashtray location. More info - http://altspacerx8.blogspot.com/2008...ius-radio.html

I also had added eDead sound deadening beforehand. More info - http://altspacerx8.blogspot.com/2007...deadening.html

Got my cleansweep mounted today. Still need to run the remote volume control under the center console, and clean up a few more wires, but I'm pretty much done now.

Next up? Rattle hunting.

How is that clean sweep working for you?
Did you just tap into the rear speakers?

Blue LEDs tapped into trunk light for a subtle glow.
