Post How can i update my car's firmware ?

its on 9.50 ( stock ) i got a 04 Grand touring edition with the bose , and i wanna get it updates to 9.55 so i can use this iphone car setup but it wont play on 9.50 , only 9.55 and above
this is the one i wanna get Mazda RX8 2004-2008 - AUX, iPhone, iPod and MP3 adapter
i just wanna know if it is as simple as plugging in a computer to the radio , or just a cd in the cd player. i just NEED it to be updated and i need the update.

Nope... Not simple.... Buy a HU with the 9.55 firmware.

hu is a head unit? how much do those go for?

Yup... Depends... If thru Mazda far more than I would pay. Start with ebay and FS threads here... A local junkyard would likely be the cheapest... Just bring a battery.

im not trying to spend that kinda money , anything cheaper that will still do the trick?

ive called junk yards cause i need a passenger side mirror and i want the engine cover , NO RX8's within 75 miles haha

i just want a new head unit or try to find someone around who can update it.. all 3 mazda dealers i called said what or i dont know or stuff like that

Way too expensive but well worth it.

I went the cheap route, not as fancy or cool but it works.
