sirius sattelite radio questions
Hey guys,
I am a major Howard Stern fan,and just heard the news this morning about him jumping to Sirius sattelite in january 2006.I also remember hearing the 2005 RX-8 will have sirius available as an option. My question is would that reciever be able to be used in the 04's?If so Where can I get the reciever?I was thinking it would be better to get a mazda sirius reciever for my car because 1) I like my car to be simple inside.2) I leased my car so I don't want to tear up the dash for any reason. He even mentioned Mazda has sirius recivers available in new cars along with other brands. Thanks in advance.

Here's a tidbit to know about 04 sat compatibilty without getting too into it...
As far as some threads are finding, it seems that only SOME of the 04's Headunits may be OEM SAT Ready. if I remember correctly it's versions 9.67 (very late '04s) and up.
This is not to say you can't add aftermarket sat, you'll need ver. 9.55 or higher for this route... To check your HU version, while radio is on, hold TEXT, then quicky hold preset 1 until the version # appears.
Most 04's are alreay equipped with 9.55 or higher.
For more info do a search for Satellite or XM (regardless of whether you want XM or Sirius) to find the long thread with all available info on this... hope this helps!

I would like to clear something up, as for the O.E. SAT module. I have verified it will NOT work in any version of 04' RX-8.
Nobody knows yet what version software the 05' with SAT button has.
The O.E. SAT module is being sold for 05' Tribute, MPV, and Miata right now.(it is a universal unit).
Is there hope that 04' could be retro fit? Maybe
We need to see what version software 05' has.
