HID question

I didn't realize the rx8 came with stock HID's so why then can't i just replace the bulb with something stronger as compared to buying an entire kit? thanks guys sorry newbie here.

there is much more to HID's than a bulb. you need a ballast to power them and also a wiring harness.

you can change the halogen bulbs to a better halogen but you can't just stick an HID bulb in there.

I'm Really Confused.

Let's try again.

If,

a) you have halogen headlamps now: then, what nuke0907 said;

if,

b) you have HID's now but the light output isn't that great, then you can indeed just replace the bulbs (the bulbs do 'dim' over time and use). There are a bunch of threads here on different bulbs with different color temperatures.

If you want 50 watt instead of 35 watt (I'm just guessing here....) you have to replace the bulbs AND ballasts, and probably some wiring to handle the current.

Does THAT answer your question?
