Hello I'm a new mazda rx8 owner and I was wondering how to hook up my ipad mini to the radio as this is my main source of music for those who don't know it has the new charger but anyway in my car already is a iPhone charger that comes from through the center console but it doesn't seem to work for music it just charges my phone. Do I have to buy anything to get it to link up and can this be done on a stock 04 stero in my old car everything was Bluetooth

Sorry, for clarification -

You have an '04 standard stereo unit installed, but has an iPod charger? That is not normal, that sounds like the previous owner spliced the charger into the unit.

Does the system have an aux-in (3.5mm) jack?

What package did your 8 come with and what is it's year of manufacture?

 

As for getting this setup to work, without more information I cannot tell you exactly what you need to do, but I highly recommend reading the stickies for this section of the forums if you haven't.

This is the most common way to get something with an AUX output to work in your car.. give it a look. Also, read the other stickes!!!

Yeah the charger comes from underneath the center console and its a base 8 with non Leather seats no Bose and no jack
