I have a 2005 RX8 with the Nav unit. I don't believe I have seen any firmware that allows the unit to play DVD's on this site. I'm wondering if this http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDet...000-1154409191
is the only unit that would allow this? Does this unit play DVD's as well? or do you need to buy another 3rd party DVD player? I also would like to hook up my laptop to the car for music, however also considering http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDet...000-1151625270
if I could just have my laptop the DVD's and have it all run through this? I've never wired up a system so is this a simple job or recommended that I hire it and if hired how much do you believe wired included would it cost? Are their any other options for converting the RX8 basic NAV screen to playing DVD's? Recomendations or pictures if you have done what I'm thinking would be great, or a link to another project as well.

Yep. That first thing you linked is just an A/V switch. No players are included with that.

I take it that there is no input in the stock dash for the audio? Guess that means why the GPS only talks in one speaker...
