Found this video this morning...


I was surprised that it seriously worked... the Rx8s have the international stations 87.7 and 87.9

Drove around and to work today and got NO static at all... The reason why I stopped using the stupid little transmitter >.<


This is the exact transmitter i've had laying around for 2 years and it somehow still worked lol took a bit of playing with to figure out how to put the transmitter into international mode, but now my iphone is crystal clear audio (unless you touch the cable.. then you can hear the cable moving?) but no static AT ALL :D

I just thought i'd post for people who don't know or want to sink money into messing with the factory radio.
Of course you don't get to control the ipod with the radio buttons.. or read the names of the songs on the radio.. but I think I paid like $10 for the adapter on eBay so it's a relatively cheap, static-free solution

Also.. that transmitter wont charge iphones but will play music.. dunno about ipods but I assume it charges those.

 

Oh, nice! Time to dig up my Belkin FM transmitter... Pretty ancient, bought it at Good Guy when they had the 75% off Store Closing SALE years ago.

 

Not with an FM transmitter... but of course this depends on your definition of "crystal clear"

FM transmitters are OK for getting some audio to play without hassle, but the quality is questionable... it will certainly not exceed that of an FM station. But for a lot of people, that's sufficient.

 

So where's the "hack"?

 

My definition would be... no static at all :D it's definitely a MASSIVE improvement to change to international stations on the transmitter.. I've had it for 2 days now and had no interference or sound problems so far I quit using the thing for 2 years because it WAS terrible quality.. but that video fixed the quality pretty well

But of course it's not the same quality as the $100-$200 aux/usb adapters lol.. but I'm still in college so I can't afford to shell out that kinda money just to listen even clearer music :P

Not my video, but you're right, the guys video title should be something like "not so obvious setting in FM transmitters" :P
