Great Custom Fiberglass Box for 12 inch sub
I recently bought a 12 inch MTX Thunder Square 8500 subwoofer powered by the Thunder Elite 801D amplifier with 1600 Watt Peak Power. After I bought my items, my hunt for a box began. As all of us rotor heads know, our trunk wasn't built for easy compatibility for subwoofers and their enclosure. I researched some of the boxes that I was interested in such as the box that fit on the two sides. All of the boxes I came across I disliked so I decided to find someone to help me build a fiberglass custom box for my trunk. Luckily, one of my friends that works at a Car Auto Body shop knows of this area very well. He and I built this box together for $350 not including the amp and the sub. This price includes, his labor, fiber glass resin, wood framework, and purple carbon fiber vinyl to cover the box. Please ask questions and leave feedback! Here are the final results!

This is where the vinyl has to be cut and glued to itself. The vinyl does stretch around curves but some that are sharp like 90 degrees like this, the vinyl must be cut. When looking from top you can not see. Also the flash on the camera brings out the white on the edges.
I realize that. I've covered many-a-boxes. My question is why wouldn't he cut it UNDER the lip to take up the slack around the corner..... Instead of right on it. Or maybe while covering it, cover that area first and run the slack to the rear/side of the box and do your cutting there. I'm just noting that that corner is the very first thing people see. If any part of the box needs to be blemish free, it would be there.
Don't get me wrong, it looks like a very clean install over all. I think your friend did a pretty decent job. Just some constructive criticism to improve on.
