Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to update the firmware on the RX8 audio system? Mine is 9.53, and I need at least 9.55.

I'm looking to get an XCarLink iPod Integration Kit (used to be called Audiolink) for my 2004 RX8, but it says it needs firmware V9.55 or higher.

Sorry the only other way I know of is getting a newer HU.

 

I was searching on Ebay, and I found an adapter that claims to work with all firmware versions and gives options to control from the Ipod or from the Radio/Steering wheel. I went ahead and ordered it (I hope someone doesn't post that it was a mistake). If people are interested, I'll post how well it works when I install it.

I too have the 9.53 firmware. I was wondering the same thing as you if there was someway to upgrade my software and/or to get a PIE system to work with my 2004 bose RX8 system.

I dont know if it is true but at least we dont have to rip out our stereo and send it in to have them upgrade our software and install the pie adapter for us...

I bought and installed the one I linked, and it works great. It looks like the exact same one you linked from ebay. It allows control from the ipod, or the radio/steering wheel, and you can switch pretty easily. I only took me about 45 minutes to install (first thing I've ever installed in a car).

Does it have a RCA jack so I can use my MP3 or my Sat radio with it?

 

Does this really display the iPod info?

 

It came with an Aux jack. I assume you could plug those in it. I haven't checked as I don't have either.

As for the display, if it is in "Radio/Steering Wheel" control mode, then it displays song title/artist on the red LED display. You are locked out of the Ipod controls in that mode though. If you are in "Ipod Control" mode, then it does not display correctly.
