Extra Dashboard Buttons?

I searched, but could not find any information on this. Does anyone have a good idea on what to do with the (2) extra buttons next to the dashlight dimmer and the DSC switch? Are these being used on the JDM cars? If so, what is their purpose? I'm just curious as to why they are there not being used. I'd like to use them for something - just not sure what.

I'm using one for my satellite tracking system. It adds two buttons, one that is hidden(yes that's sarcasm there) & the other is in one of the two little empty squares but it's a button that is also a light (a red button that doubles as a indicator light).

I was thinking about motorizing the rear windows to open/close, and was looking for a place to actuate this.

I believe in JDM cars, they have a manual headlight adjusting button/dial in one of those dummy slots. Not sure what the other one might be used for. I was going to put my rear fog light switch there but went another route.

I also use one of the slots for footwell lights, got my own switch, ran it through inside the casing, and wired it to 2 neon bars. I should have use the regular footwell from Mazda, might have cost less.. but at least with neon, I don't have to ever change the bulb.
