electronic help

so i installed my 12 in sub about 3 or 4 months ago. My amp kept overheating in the trunk so I moved it to the backseat. Overheated probably one time after that, but I decided to install a fan in it. I bought a computer fan (has three wires, all clear). When playing w/ the wires to try and get it to work, it worked at the first shot. The bad part it doesn't shut off w/ the car. It only takes one wire to get the fan to work. Anybody kno how to get it to shut offf??? wats the use of cooling ur amp if your car doesnt start ....lol
