I have the titanium **** from evo-r. Love it, and it screws on the stock shift arm, so I can always put the stock one back on. Does get a little hot in the sun, but not unbearable.

I just got the new Mazdaspeed ****. It's carbon fiber and aluminum (not painted platic like the stock ****). The build quality is great, it's nice and heavy (about the same as the stock ****) and feels great in my hand. Runs about $140.

If you are looking for this, it's usually listed as an MX-5 part but the instruction sheet that comes with it says it's for both the MX-5 and RX-8.

I have a Black Voodoo with the AFE short shifter. It's pretty hard core.

I don't have it mounted in the 8 yet, but I have a weighted "Classic" Shift-**** from TWM... Used it in my Celica for a while and loved it compared to the stock ****...

I like the shape and look of the stock **** in the 8, so I don't know if i'm going to use the TWM or not... Will try it out after I get the $5 plastic thread adapter from TWM to use it in the 8, since the current adapter fits the larger diameter Celica threads.

It's a little shorter than the stock ****, the shape is quite comfortable... Gets hot as hell in the sun though and I can't even imagine wanting to toucg it in the winter... lol

No kidding. I took mine off the other day while installing my Audiolink. If I ever get in a bar fight I'm gonna run out to the car, unscrew the ****, and bring it back in with me to bash people's heads with.

IMO the main thing to look for is one that is threaded so it'll screw onto the stock shifter. Most of the universal ones are tightened down with little set screws which get loose over time. Even with a bit of thread lock I still ran into this problem (on one of my previous cars).

FWIW I have a Voodoo one too.

I use the Voodoo Magnum Pearl and absolutely love it over the stock ****. Shifts are much more natural and comfortable with the ball shaped **** rather than the rotor shaped ****.

I'm actually quite surprised at the difference just changing the **** makes in the shift feel.

I use the Aspec Titanium 50mm Ball Shifter ****

I absolutely love the feel and plus the ball is countersunk so it sits nice and low and makes the shifts really nice

sorry, no pics
