Does anyone know if this will work?

Hey I was considering buying this Ipod adaptor for my 8 but I wanted to be sure it would work.

It's the second one that has a picture. (Grom Audio Ipod Car Kit 2002-2008)

Anyone have any ideas?

Grom stuff is pretty well rated.

The only thing you should check carefully before you by any iPod adaptor is what radio firmware versions it works with.

Most all brands that use the steering wheel control (the Mazda adapter, for example) will not work if the radio firmware is below Ver 9.55. I would be surprised if the Grom is not the same.

To check your radio firmware: Turn the radio 'on'. Press the 'text' **** and preset #1 at the same time. Hold for a couple of seconds. The version will display.

Okay my firmware is 9.55 and I think I might get it. Does anyone know how it will be accessed in the end? (i.e. cd player, tape, radio, etc)

If the unit offers text display on the rx8 then it connects to the tape port on the bottom of the radio. If it does not odds are it plugs into the CD Changer port on the back of the radio.
