Help!!! Display malfucntion!!

Hi guys!

I'm sorry if this has been posted about before, (I waded through till page 10 and found nothing!), but I'm having a bit of trouble with my dash display: it's lighting up like fireworks on the 4th of July!! The radio and climate controls still work, it's just that the display has gone totally haywire, and I've only had my 8 for a year now. Have any of you guys experienced this before? Thanks.

I believe I've heard of one other person on this forum with this problem. I had the same problem. What's the cause I don't know, but it is fixable under the warranty, so just take it in to the dealership and they will be able to take care of it for you.

Well, I was hoping it was just some minor glitch that I could probably take care of myself, but thanks. I'll try to take some pictures and will post them up if it happens again. It seems to be okay today.

if its lighting up and displaying a bunch of giberish charaters and stuff, ive seen this happen in a 04, take it to the dealer, the will reflash the car and it should be fixed.

Have had no repeats with that glitch, it seems to have just 'fixed' itself. Hmmmmm....

I've had this problem for years. My dealership has tried repeatedly to fix it. It only occures for me on hot days when the car is in the sun. Usually after about 5min with the AC blasting it clears up and goes normal again. Each time the dealership replaces the display which they say is what MAZDA recommends. They replaced it again last friday (4th try I think) but since its cooling off I won't know if its fixed till next year. To compound that I will be out of warrenty on milage later this year. In the long run I'm not to worried, if it acks up again I will just have them pull the paperwork of all the tries and have them go around again with Mazda.

Mine started right after they did the AC fix for the first cars. I think it is a loose wire in one of the wire harnesses. Something is thermally expanding when the car interior reaches 100+ and it corrects when the temp drops with the AC on.

You can also try hitting different buttons. Sometimes that gets it to clear up.

Hope that helps.

Thanks dude,

It's being good so far, but I'll be sure to take it to my dealer if it happens again. I'm not too crazy though, that you've had yours supposedly 'fixed' four times.
