Direct Ipod Connection

I'm sick of my Transpod. Looks bulky, ugly, loose and only gives me 80% of the volume!

I need a new solution to play my ipod through my car, so I called a local audio dealer around here to ask for some solutions.

Stangely they stated "we can't do a direct line in an Rx8 but my coworker said there is a place.. but he forgets"

So hopefully someone here has a better solution!

I've looked through the forums however havn't found much, sorry for the repost if this is one!

Search for the Denison Ice-Link Plus and the PIE Mazda/ALP adapter. That's all you need. Make sure the Denison Ice-Link Plus is the model inteded for the Alpine MBUS connector.

You can get the PIE adapter from www.mazdaparts.com
You can get the Ice-Link from http://www.mp3yourcar.com/ (called the Neo Ion SP).

Im also interested in the above, and correct me if Im wrong... But doesnt the Icelink and the Pie require a special playlist to be created in the Ipods menu?

Then you scroll through the songs in the playlist and the Ipod controls are not useable?

I'd like just a simple plug into the ipod so I can control everything through the ipod.

The Pie is what I want then no?

u can have two modes in icelink. (neo)
in icelink mode, you can use the HU to use the playlist.
in iPod UI mode, you can do the control from the iPod.

In IPOD VI mode you can still advance songs from the steering wheel.

On the question of the version on the headunit, the PIE adapter needs the head unit to be greater than a certain version. I believe it's 9.55 or greater to function.

As for whether you can control the IPOD from the IPOD itself, yes you can do that with the Ice-Link in the IPOD mode (and as stated the controls on your head unit/steering wheel still work to advance songs). Or you can setup 5 playlists that can be accessed with CD1 through CD5. CD6 is to access the Ice-Link setup menu.
