you didn't answer my question. i believe that that auto dimming is also a setting in the menu. i'm honestly not sure where that particular feature gets its wiring from without looking at a diagram, but i suppose it wouldn't be unreasonable for it to get the voltage from somewhere on the stereo harness.

from what i recall though, the stereo and nav are completely separate and unrelated. how's the volume on the nav? working?

sounds like it's working fine then. it's supposed to change brightness levels depending on if the headlights are on or not (ie if it's dark or not). dig around in the settings and adjust to where you like. it's there somewhere

Yes, you can make the background change to black when you turn your lights on but it's different now it's barely readable. And use to when you turn the interior dimmer all the way up to where the gauges change color it would go back to white. It no longer does that

i took a look through my settings the other day. you can get to the brightness menu by holding down the display button, which is the bottom left most one on the nav control panel. if you don't want your screen brightness level changing when you turn your headlights on or off, you can switch it to day mode. when it is in night mode, you get the transitions. that has nothing to do with changing the background color.

i have no idea what's going on with your guages
