Alright! i have one more problem... cause imma newbie at systems but.... can someone explain the difference between mono, 2-channel, and multi-channel amps.... i want a nice system and willing to pay good money cause you get what you pay for ... right? Since im getting JL audio W6V2 I was thinking of getting a JL amp.... but i have no clue as to which one is the best for me??? im going to purchase one side and then i might add another one in the near future if i think the bass is not enough for me.... so basically im looking for an amp that can power my one sub and then also supply enough power for the second sub in the near future... or maybe i wont even need another sub... someone please help me out ... thanks

i had a jl 10w6v2 in my car and i would have to say that it hit very hard. the bass was very deep and sounded really clear. If you decide to get a jl amp, i say that you get the jl 500/1 and it will power the sub well. the jl 500/1 is a monoblock and is just right for the subs. Very pricey, but well worth it. multichannel amps are usually to power the front and rear speakers, unless u get a 5-channel amp(powers all speakers and sub).

the boxes looks good, especially the drivers side one. very impressed with the rotary symbol.
just a friendly reminder..... mybe you should change the title by remove the word "custom", because all the ones available from you are exactly the same design, so i wouldnt call it custom.....
anyway, keep up the good work

The enclosure is custom built for the RX8 and can be custom built for each customer in diff configurations. I can have the box painted to match your car, covered in diff materials, and you can opt for the basic or rotary grill. My definition of custom is fabricating a particular part, by hand, for a particular vehicle. Neon tubes, cd players, and bolt on exhaust tips are universal parts that I do not consider custom. IMO :o

I almost forgot, what did you mean, "boxes looks good, especially the drivers side one." The pass. side box will look exactly the same.

I am very interested in a box for each side. I was going to have someone else do them but I really like the rotor grill cover that you have integrated. Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Alex

update

We have the mouldes complete. We are laying up some boxes this weekend. The mouldes look great. We used box steel to reinforce the mouldes to reduce warpage. I should have final pics Mon-Tues for you guys. Thanks for the interest!

I was in the area so I stopped by to let the box builder do a fit check and do a quick listening check.

The photos are WITHOUT the grill which is the last piece to be molded.

We did an FM listening test where we used the other guys amp and I played the rest of my system with bass turned down somewhat and the performance was really good. You get a good amount of bass from the 10W0. You will get about 6dB more with a 10W6 and enough watts behind it. Using a driver side box, two 10W3 or two 10W6 would absolutely jam.

Keeping the passthrough down appeared to add some bass response, but even with it up almost all go through anyway.

The box itself is a little less than .75 cubic inches and is fairly lightweight. However with all of those ridges it is plenty strong. Knocking my knuckles on it proved that to me. The mounting method hasn't been finished yet but even with it "loose" I couldn't dislodge it with hard right or left turns.

The grill is supposed to come in later this week. That will be the icing on the cake.

Thumbs up Looks great!

This thing looks so darn good, I almost regret getting my pass-through box :D
Awesome job - I'm sure this will be an excellent solution for many, especially if the price is right.

BTW,

The color match is just about perfect. The flash from my camera made the box carpet look a little liighter than the trunk carpet (the box carpet might have reflected a little more light from the flash), but visually the color match was perfect. It really looked like it was part of the car.

2 enclosures

Kinda off topic but I wonder if a 2 sub setup would need to be wired out of phase to limit or stop cancellation? I know oem front speakers are essentially firing at each other but the console can limit cancellation. Anyways, great build. Maybe an alacantara trunk with the grill in oem black

For whoever cares my setup is the pioneer p9 and processor, Focal utopia 3 way components utopia subs 11" and 3 butler tube amps. Trimmed in Kimber Kable. All tuning with an audio control 3055..................

Dude... you must have a lot of money - that sounds like a kickass setup.

Reminder:

This is a development only thread, folks. When the boxes are complete and tested, 4080 will be doing a Group Buy or becoming a Forum vendor to distribute them. Please refrain from any "how much?" type questions in this thread. Thanks.

So how much is this gonna cost?

J/K :D

Seriously though... despite my early skeptism, it really is a work of art... nice job.

I collected most of the stuff over a period of a year or so. My preivious ride (before tanking my wrx) was a prelude sh. I had the car all built for iasca and did pretty well. Took some time off and am getting the bug again....... Right now there's a guy looking to unload both alpine f1 status pieces for around 2k.... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm At any rate the enclosures look solid so I'm in
