In dash Sirius Head Unit Project
Decided I would try something new with the interior and I was tired of having my stupid sirius radio hanging off my window so I got a idea and here are the photos from my project. Took me about 8 hours over the span of 2 weeks to finish. I used a dremel tool to cut the plastic. Pictures arent the best of quality since they were taken by my phone.
Picture of interior when I first got the car (only about 3 months ago) but pre-installation
I ordered a new entire ashtray compartment and started to take out the lighter plug and all the extra plastic
The sirius head unit sat on this, it had to be taken apart because it would not have fit, so I took the cover off and just retrieved the inserts for the radio.

This is the head unit holder disassembled
I started cutting out the hole for the head unit here
Started to put black foam around the edges to make a neater finish rather than my half *** sand job (which I did not want to try)

Here is the head unit inside the lid after foam was installed. Dont have picture but I got rid of all that glossy/white residue from the glue afterwards
This is the backview of what the head unit + the lid
Whew , this is a ugly picture but I just pulled off the panel over the stick shift and just removed the orginal ashtray
This is after the install, its night time and I just wanted to take a picture to show off what I could, tomorrow Ill take a picture during daytime

Just curious, where did you order the extra ashtray compartment from and how much? This was something I was looking to do but was going to cost me $200+ for a custom piece and didn't want to cut up my original ashtray in case I wanted to revert. So if I can get a new ashtray at something less than 200 I may attempt this myself.

I just un attached the cigeratte lighter from the ashtray compartment and plug my power cord into it and put it behind the ashtray comparment when I installed it.
MrAdam5 I got it for 30 bucks shipped from user MAZMART "6"
