Cool custom stereo installation on a mazda6

I havent seen the stock stereo in a mazda6...but i have read that we share the same platform and controls....I found this in www.caraudiomag.com is a custom setup in a mazda6 they move averything around a/c controls are on the top...to me it looks very similar to the rx8.

A more direct link: http://www.caraudiomag.com/v_features/0401cae_mazda/

If I'm not mistaken, the guy who put this together talks about it at length on the Mazda6 forums. But yes, they start off with the same equipment as the RX8.

the work is really nice but the dash is just not built for these rectangle head units. they all look out of place to me.

i would like to see what the dash looks like with the faceplate for the stereo and AC controls removed so i can develope some of my ideas and little further.

If I remember correctly, this fellow actually took the original faceplate piece with it's electronics, and relocated it to another location (like under a seat), and ran wires from it to the connections and controls in the dash. Then another faceplate replica was built, the head units installed, and the controls relocated to the replica.

Or, that could have been someone else's solution.
