let me get this straight.
It is plug and play?
Pull radio out, plug the module in, plug aux into module, secure the module into place, run the aux cable to desired location, put the radio back in, press tape/md, done. Did I get anything wrong?

and to those who got this, how is the sound?

I'm no expert when it comes to wiring and electronics.

It's been 6 years, but that's how I remember it. Be aware, there is a "hidden" bolt that you have to deal with to get the head unit out. But after you are aware of it, it's not that big of an issue to deal with. Search these forums for head unit removal. Good luck,

Jeff

You don't have to be an electronics expert to install it, but being a contortionist helps.

The auxmod sound quality is very good. If I turn the volume way up with my MP3 off, I get a little interference from somewhere with some hiss and an intermittent beep. I'm not sure if that is typical.

id be down for a module, unfortunately i went the way of soldering in an aux cable into the cd player, running a blank cd, and boom music. but since our first gen 8s cd player isnt the best and likes to skip, here and there id have a skip in the music, now the cd player doesnt work and am stuck with an fm transmitter while I work on other parts of my car.
Id rather just have this plug in than take out my stock head unit and replace it with aftermarket.

My question is does it matter what headunit I use? Like could i use a 2004 model headunit?

Thanks
As long as its not the firmware version I have in my 04. Mine isnt compatible with any USB plug and play out there. I belive I have 9.53, everything is made for 9.55 and up with the exception of 10.01. If im not mistaken. Good luck

This is their web page: Sylfex

I've had mine since 2007 and it still works perfectly. Message them from their site to see if they are still making them.

The sylfex site although old is still active and shipping.
I emailed them to ask and got a quick response a few weeks ago.
So ordered the basic version (advanced not developed) and it was shipped same day via USPS.
Haven't installed it yet, but the site is still selling them and prompt.

If you are still interedted

The site mentioned is still active. They have an international option. I used the contact info to ensure they were still ok and then ordered online.
If you are having problems finding the site just google RX8 auxmod basic
