Buy a ground loop isolator at your local Radio Shack, and install it with that, it will probably eliminate all of the interference from most powered devices.

you are better off playing with it till there is a proper ground...a GLI is like a bandaid...it has the tendency to mess with low low bass which probably most of us won't notice anyway...so nevermind what I just said...use a GLI :D

If we whine in unison will more modules magically appear? This FM modulator crapola has got to go. Even my girlfriends know something is wrong when you have to tune your MP3's on an FM station.

Not likely. Whining won't help - unison or not.

It might help you to vent, but it probably won't change things. We've got a supply line to get through to make these things, so they get finished, when they get finished. It takes time.
On the bright side, we're almost half way through the wait list.

Well, I have no need to vent, since I've already got my AuxMod and I'm a happy camper :D

I'm psyched... my iJet radio remote control for my iPod is coming tomorrow. No more opening and closing the cener console to skip Pinball Wizard because I loaded too much Who music and I'm getting sick of Pete Townshend (say it aint so!) Now, where will I mount the remote? I'm considering the left cormer of the center console, but I can't figure out what to mount it with. Might just go with velcro. I'm sure the pics will be posted this weekend... stay tuned!

By the way guys, here's some business advice: sell the unit to a company that has the resouces to market it properly and charge the $99 or $119 it should cost. You've done a brilliant job, but I think you're overextended with the wait list, etc. Then again, what do I know? -- I thought you'd never get it done!

I laugh because I did the same thing recently after being loaned a bunch of Who albums, including some best of stuff... I love it, but I was in overload with my Who-only playlist.

Anyhoo, my point of replying was to ask how big this remote is... I love the place I installed my Zen remote as I can just extend my fingers from the gear stick and hit the track fwd & back buttons.... and if I close the ashtray, I have no worries of a smash and grab by someone snooping for an iPOD.

I suspect that the iJet remote will be about the same size as the key fob...

What cable are people using with their AuxMod install? I'm considering this one: http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...%5Fid=42-2607# but I'd think I'd want the other end to be a female connector, no? I'd like it to be flexible for connecting any number of devices, not just my iPod.

well, male to male should be what you want, the AuxMod has a female jack on it, and whatever you are hooking up to it either also has female (if it is an MP3 player or sat radio), or has RCA outputs (if it's an in-car video systems or what-not). I am going to pick up a cable with two male headphone jacks, but I am sooking for one with a 90 degree angle on each end, for better routing.

As promised, here are the photos of the iJet remote, as installed.

I went with the velcro. Simple, elegant, and easy to remove. The unit works very well, although the one I received seems to have a defective earphone connector -- since I'm using the Belkin car adapter which pushes sound out through the docking port, it's not been a problem and the manufacturer has agreed to send me another one. The white is not the best color, but they're coming out with a silver skin in June that should better match the silver trim of the RX-8.... and yes, I can raise and lower the ash tray door without a problem!

Thumbs up

I have finally installed mine successfully. Unfortunately, when I tried the first time, I ended up killing my head unit. Hence the importance of taking great care while installing.

After all that, I am really pleased. Sounds great and well worth the money. A big thumbs up to OverLOAD for the time and effort he has put into this very worthwhile mod.

Righto timbo...I wanna see a thread on how to kill a head unit. I did notice you posting about getting a new one put in......

Was this just a dodgy warranty claim to get you the latest firmware? .

What! You want me to create a "D'oh! I stuffed up!" :o thread? No chance, cobber :p

Anyway, I told my service manager exactly what happened, and I can't help it if he didn't listen -- in fact it was the first time I was thankful for a service manager not listening (I should have known, they never do ) But the replacement was a bit of a saga, as they twice gave me replacement HU for the Bose system which, as has been pointed out elsewhere is a low gain unit...so, no volume. Finally got the right one in....and yes, it does have firmware version 9.67 But I am happy with OverLOAD's module.

BTW, I see THB-Bury have come out with a unit that hardwires into the antenna socket, with a piggyback for the original. I gather you then tune the radio in to an FM frequency (a la iTrip) but becuase it is hardwired, the signal is much clearer. About $A80.

Oh alright, I'll confess!

Do exactly as OverLOAD says in his instructions. Do NOT try this with the HU still connected to power or within 5 minutes of disconnecting from power. Insert the module straight into the head unit -- do not insert it at an angle.

If you do not do all this, you risk zapping your HU...believe me!

Not that I disagree, but I still can't see how completely removing the HU it is any different than disconnecting the car battery, turning on the radio after the battery has been disconnected for a while to assure that any charge is gone, then removing the HU just far enough to reach in and under and carefully installing the AUXMOD that way. That procedure worked well for me; I think it would have been far riskier to try and remove all the various and tightly connected cables, particularly for me since no one has yet explained how the NAV system figures into all of this.

By the way, I'm still loving my AUXMOD. I've got a long trip coming up in the next couple weeks and can't wait.

As long as you are absolutely ensure you do NOT insert the module at an angle...but that's quite challenging in the limited space available

the Nav system doesn't figure into any of it

it is all handled at by the NAV dvd unit...there is simply a different wiring harness handling it

Are you saying that there is no extra NAV wiring into the HU? There certainly was extra wiring in the center console... two extra harnesses, one for the joystick, the other for the button controls. My concern was the antenae, in particular. I assume that it goes into the HU, but I understand that it may go into the DVD player, or go somewhere else. It was just something I was concerned about during my install.

antenna doesn't go into HU only the Radio's antenna...there is a seperate GPS antenna that is in the back facia (back dash) and the wire comes down and plugs into the NAV dvd unit...click on the DIY link in my signature and you can see for yourself :D

no extra wiring to the HU :D
