I know you are Very busy with the aux module, but I was wondering if you could provide me with a few details about the HU audio output signal.

I'm guessing that you have a scope as part of the bench setup for creating the aux module :D

I would like to know the signal level for any of the speaker outputs, let's say Left Front for this example:
L+ to Gnd
L+ to L-

You will need a sine wave source for the measurements (most likely)--I have some audio test CDs on the way and I can make an MP3 of the 1 Khz test signal or something.

This info is for my post about connecting the HU to an aftermarket amp.

Thanks in advance,
George

Have you thought about hooking up with a larger company that might be interested in helping bring this to market? The one that comes to mind is BlitzSafe, which makes aux adapters for other cars, but doesn't have one for the Mazda. As a larger company, they may be better able to negotiate for the connectors. Additionally, they may be better able to set up the marketing and manufacturing. You may find that they're very interested in the R&D you've done and may be able to help you through the logistics. Might be worth investigating.

We've got a connector which isn't quite the same as the Mazda Factory connector, but is so close, that it will work quite well. The problem is that the supplier wants crazy volume commitments to sell us any of these connectors.

Hopefully, I'll have more info on this shortly, but this is already causing us a big delay in making the board.

It was march, but due to the whole connector issue, it has been pushed off until that can be resolved. This is all in previous posts...just read back through them.

OverLOAD,

I don't know if this will help or not, but you could ask Canzoomer about his source for the plugs he is using to connect his ECU mod unit to the ECU. Since he has no problems with this, I suppose he found a supplier who is able to provide him with the OEM-equivalent plugs. Maybe the same supplier could help you too?

He jst emailed me about this.

If I can get some pics of the connector I can probably find them.

BTW, we are not using "OEM equivalent" parts.

We are using the SAME connectors as Mazda use.
Tyco make almost all of them (AMP is a Tyco brand)
If it is audio, it may be other, as most of the audio parts they use are actually made by Clarion, and they use connectors from many sources.

One thing i have to warn you guys. If we do find them, there are minimum order quantities on this stuff. usually around 100+ pieces per order.
However for test peices, they will usually supply us with 2 or 3 as samples.

Send me pics and i will see what I can do.

I think I speak for us all that we appreciate you helping out, 'Zoomer. I also bet that 100 pieces are going to be cake considering the exposure this project is getting from other Mazda forums.

Overload,
Just wanted to chime in from the Mazda3 boards... Huge thanks for taking on the Aux-In project. Picked up my 3s HB over the weekend and am eagerly awaiting the module's availabilty. Post here when it's ready and my $ will be on the way.

There was mention a few pages ago regarding patent and competitors, so I'll throw this out as a point of reference: http://www.densionusa.com/icelink/icelink_details.htm

Thanks,
Ryan

I would be willing to pre-order as I'm sure many others would if needed to make the cash-flow work.

I'd be happy to pre-order also. Any news overLOAD? Do you know what your minimum count is and what the minimum cost would be? Could you adjust your price to compensate and get started? And if so how much would it need adjusting?

I don't mind paying a bit of a premium over what you've already stated, but I do need to get this A.S.A.P. I've already started my carputer project, and I don't want to have to go the cassette hack route.

I am also happy to preorder, prepay and if twenty-five dollars will help, that’s OK, too.

As a page one sign up, I am ready to do all three of the above. What about taking on financial partners? Some of us might well consider putting up capital to get this thing rolling . . . as someone who still holds Enron shares this looks like a sure thing.

Please just be patient. We're working through the issue. I'm hoping to hear somethig about this from the connector manufacturer soon, as they seem to be getting closer to be willing to help.

I appreciate all the offers, but it's probably going to be at least a few weeks of a delay before we'll have the connector. There just isn't anything else I can do about it.

Regards,

Hi there! Many greets from Germany!

Actually I drive a 6 and as far as I can see, lots of german 6-Drivers which I usually talk to in a german forum would like to have this module as well!
So I've been having an eye on this thread for quite some time now and I just want to let OverLOAD know that there's a need for this over here, too! Guess 100 pieces should be no prob!

Bye, Xanda

so there's nothing left that remains to be researched at this point in time?

I'm just trying to get the connector. Once I've got that, I can start building modules... This manufacturer is starting to drive me bonkers..

Hi Overlord,

You've been doing some amazing cool work. I would like to be added to the list as well to purchase a aux-in module.

I've been watching this thread for quite a while, and wanted to show support. I'm coming from the mazda6club forums. There are probably just as many if not more people that have a 6 that want this module.

Keep up the good work and please don't give up.
