Interesting, but at least we all know that the Corksport kit actually works...

Screw 2 DIN head units...doa 1 DIN and add TEIN damper controller or the Tanabe one (TEAC I think it's called) and a turbo timer and a bass controller....there's so many 1/4 DIN units you can put in there. 2 DIN head units usually have crappy sound quality from my experience.

If thats your cup of tea, then go for it... I prefer a double din unit over the flip out. I have had a flip out and all it did was get in the way and cause trouble. As for the 2 din units having crappy sound... that a very broad statement, one that I dont think is true at all.... I am amazed out how clean and crisp the sound is with the AVIC-D3. Better than anything I have ever heard before.

Good point there lurch. Maybe metra could get it right the first time. Doubt it will come in piano black though

Did you keep the stock speakers for now? Do you have the bose sound system and did you buy the adapter for that to keep the stock speakers and amp setup? Or did you replace all of the factory audio with aftermarket products?

Ok, I "DO" have the bose, kinda. I have replaced all my factory speakers. I have infinity kappa's in the rear, and Infinity Perfect 6.1 components in the doors. All being pushed by a Kicker kx850.4 amp. When I ordered my kit, I ordered it for the non bose. For wiring up the harness, i didnt connect any of the speaker leads to the factory harness, since I am running for the front and rar RCA outputs. I will end up running my two pairs of infinity tweets off the new AVIC-D3 speakers connections (where you would usually wire up door speakers). Let me know if you need more detail...

Anyone else buy and install? with after market nav, steering controls, temp, display screen all working?

SO let me get this straight? We can now get rid of the HU??? Do we need the BOSE adaptor if we change out the speakers and amp in the future?

So many questions, so many excite! I so Excite!

do you have any more pics?

I'm seriously considering this after my suspension. A 1 DIN head unit with a flip-out screen for my carputer would be pimp. Then I can use the opening for my EDFC.

I just got off the phone with Corksport and a piano black stereo replacement kit is on it's way to my house - should be here tomorrow. I also ordered the steering wheel controls but they won't be in for another week - aparently there was a problem with the English translated instructions (there weren't any).

I also just picked up an Eclipse AVN5495 to stick in said replacement kit.

I'm giddy like a little girl.

Any more info on this? My installer is looking at ways to do this cheaper (and possibly market it if all goes well) and he is a metra dealer as well. Are there any definitive threads out there that tell us what needs to happen to put in an aftermarket radio, or is it scattered all over the place like a lot of other stuff. Is it just a matter of keeping wires connected and relocating them somewhere or? Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially by my car audio sponsors

My kit arrived today. For the curious, here's what the unpainted kit looks like. The finish is smooth, flat black plastic.
