Question chime noise

Periodically while I'm driving, I hear a Chime/ping noise coming from my left side. I can not figure out what it is, and it is driving me nuts. My service adviser at the dealership looks at me like I'm insane when I mention it, but I've about decided he is an idiot anyway.

Does anyone have any idea what is making that noise and how can I keep it from happening?

could it be your cellphone? jk

actually I think one of two things:
A) your door is not fully slammed shut as the 'door ajar' chime will go off unless the door is absolutely positively closed
B) the door is closed but you have a malfunction in your door closed button...in the door jam there is a large black rubber gromet looking thing...the size of a nickel or maybe bigger...and thick...it could be damaged, rubber molding/insulation to keep the door tight could be damaged, or other so that that button/gromet is not being fully depressed at all times especially when you are driving and vibrations occur

please note that even if the door is ajar for a mili second it will go through a full chime sequence, it will not stop abruptly when the door is closed and the gromet is depressed (or maybe that is the 'keys are in the ignition dummy' chime? hmm I'm to sick right now to go outside and check

go tell your service advisor he is an idiot and that they should fix this
