the first things I notice

- the steering wheel is HORRID! it looks like our steering wheel with a severe eating disorder.. and those buttons.. WTF?!

- are the shift paddle going to be like the ones we have now where you can go up and down with 1 hand? becuase that was a big selling point for me! because of my other hand controls.

-1982 lcd display still? really?

-Piano black on the vents and the ashtray.... eh..

- looks like the corksport kit is still going to fit!

- more silver bits on the stock HU - not bad...

- it *looks* like the whole dash might be a little shorter on the space about the lcd screen - but it's hard to tell from the angles of the shots


I just needed to vent about the steering wheel - i wonder if i can get one of our wheels retrofitted to it?

ya i started noticing how much is similar with our cars and jaguars setup/layouts lol

 

They just slapped the new Miata steering wheel on it and called it a day.

 

corksport will need some modifying to fit, look at the hazard button, the current 8 has it as part of the radio where the new one has it as part of the piano black air vents

 

It also looks like there is more seperation between the HVAC controls and the HU. Any chance they seperated the controller?

 

The dash in the Jag looks nothing like the the dash in the 8. The XF is not even remotely close. The XK is really not much closer....

My first thoughts on the 09.... UGLY steering wheel. Ugly as sin. Next, finally piano black on the ash tray lid. I've been wanting this for mine.... I wonder if my local dealer will start stocking them now? Think they'll fit an 05? Hmmmm....

The miata's steering is a lot more responcive. Did they change the steering rack as well?

I think the steering ratio of the miata 15.0:1.
Rx8 is 16.43:1.

Oh, the Reverse gear is in the upper left instead of the lower right.

 

Double Yuck. Has anyone ever figured out a way to replace the LCD?

 

looks like the ash tray in the new one is more recessd into the dash, which is nice. but also it looks to be more vertical, which i think looks more lame.
and is it me, is is there a misalignment between the lcd and the upper part of the dash?? (see atatched pic)

 

good eye - yeah the cig lighter looks like they tried to make it flat and flush with the rest of the HU and the LCD is waaaay off center in that pic... interesting...

 

I threw up a little. Good thing I have a 04.

 

In my '04 my fuel/temp gauge is on the left side and my "oil pressure" gauge is on the right. What region is that '04 pic from?
