Hello im new to this forum but i have a question? Has anyone elses center console gone out? I recently bought a 04 rx8 and ive been driving it for less than a month and just yesterday while i was driving the center console just turned off while i was listening to music. now i cant play my cds or turn on the AC. i checked some of the fuses but they all seem to be ok. If anyone knows what the problem is i would really appreciate it.

Now i have to drive my EG to work!

 

this happened to me but it was after an accident. i wound up having to bring the car to mazda and they had to replace the whole unit. does your lcd show anything?

 

Fuse??? Loose connection???

 

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this just happened to me and my windows are now fogging up. It is so cold up here (-40 degrees Celcius) and I had to get her towed to a garage.
Anyone?

 

this totally happened to me, the culprit was my vertical doors. It was a two wires that made contact, blew some fuses and killed a module (dont remember which one), ended up costing quite a bit..
since you just got the car, im assuming that you dont have any mods you can blame this on. but is it possible that the guy who had the car before you maybe had some mods that he took out to sell the car.

best thing i can say is to check all the fuses thoroughly, at which point the only option left would be to take it to a tech.

 

Right after I purchased my car my head unit starting going out. At first it would just flicker, then the screen starting going out, then the lights, then it would not work at all. Mazda warranty covers it.

 

Well it mysteriously came back yesterday or the day before. So I'm happy. I'm just worried that it'll happen again or if/when I install a new headunit it will somehow affect it.

 

I think it is due to the plastic expanding when hot or contracting when cold. Try pressing on the plastic area just below where the CD is inserted. This provides a temperoray fix for me. At least you can hold it and operate the stereo and AC. Mine was the result of having a small plastic part behind the AC control ***** (inside the dash) replaced by the dealer. The dealer supposedly had to take the dash apart to fix it. Now, the dash goes out when it is warm out but is fine when the temp drops to around 60 or so. Hope this helps.

 

i think it's the face plate. if you've tried taking out the HU, it has contact connectors to the face plate. my HU didn't turn on when i installed my ipod connector. pushed on the face plate and it went back on. it kept turning off and on so i got tired and found loose screws at the back of the faceplate. you might want to check them out.

 

thanks for the help guys. Fortunately the radio started working after the -40 weather moved on, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to really test it out but it was working when I brought it to my parent's house 3 hours away. I know what to do if it doesn't work now!
