CD Changer
According msnauto.com the indash cd changer is a port installed option, does this mean that one can be relativly easily installed in a car that did not originally have one?

The changer is a modular unit, it just slots into the audio housing from the back. No need to change anything on the front facia of the audio, but you do have to remove it to fit the changer (be careful, scratches!!)

I bought one from Rosenthal Mazda and installed it myself. It came with very clear instructions, but I would not clasify the job as "easy". If you have installed a car stereo before, this is really nothing different. The hidden bolt was the toughest thing to locate, but once you spot it, it's easy to get out. Once you have the unit out, the changer simply replaces the single unit, they are the same size. A few screws and it is out, and the changer is in.
It's well worth the effort and you save a lot of money doing it yourself as opposed to having the dealer do it. Just take your time, allow a couple of hours, and you will be just fine.
