Carpc: what is recomended position of gps receiver

My satglobal bu353 takes more than 10 minutes to lock. Is this normal? What is ur gps receiver response time? Where have u placed it.

Sitting on the right side of the dash. Wire is wedged between the dash pad and the passenger a-pillar. Takes me about 10 seconds.

Suddenly the gps has started locking instantenously. I did nothing and how is this happening i do not know.
