HI boy, I Have installed in my older car... but i have used non touch screen monitor. i have used for control an usb remote control. All System work very fine.

In next future i Install same system in my RX-8.

maybe i install it over the air-covers with scratches

recently i was looking into getting a headunit with Navi, Mp3, DVD. but for 2K+ its not worth it. Instead i am looking to build a CarPuter. It will prob run me about 2K, but i can make it do what ever i want. I plan on putting wireless, so in my driveway i can connect to my network.

I just need to figure out how to put the screen in the rx8. Ideally i would like to get the stock Navi and put it in there. I read in another post, someone mentioned using the stock unit as an input so you can still maintain some of the controls. That seems like a great idea.

also being a programmer I would be able to create my own software to do exactly what I want it to do.

Here are some other ideas i have:
-Digicam mounted on trunk as reverse camera
-GPS Navi
-DVD/CD/MP3
-Linux OS

 

in the orther post that u mentioned they said that the stock unit dont sell it separetely.
here in Greece the whole system stock unit costs 6.000 euros

i'll never pay that money for this
i prefer to put turbo
