RotaryTherapy, did the cobb screw on the oem post well? no jiggles??
|
I want a shift knob that is the same shape and size as the stock unit, but heavier. I'm thinking of taking a stock shift knob to a machine shop and seeing if they can make me one out of brass.

No more pictures? What are others replacing the OEM knob with when the plastic begins to chip and crack?

Anyone who's done it want to chime in on that? Does the cap fit well over the plastic piece and have a comfortable feel when installed? Right now I am irritated by a sharp edge from a crack in the plastic rotor shape on top of the OEM knob. I'd be disappointed if the stainless cap simply presented uncomfortable edges all around by sitting up too high on the top of the knob. |
Did someone say "heavy"?

EDIT: Added picture. This car was a gift to myself when I made Chief, so it is thus appropriately festooned. Attachment 220682 |

Hey wasn't sure if i was supposed to make a new thread or revive an old one. Has anyone tried using the S2000 shift knob in the 8? I know there is a thread difference and was wondering if using something like this would do the trick.
Brass Shift Knob Thread Reducer Adapter Insert M12x1 25 OD M10x1 5 ID | eBay Trying to look for a new shift knob lol |
Why would you bother hassling with an S2000 knob?

i'm just worried that the weight difference between the momo and the stock would be too big. Trying to see what options i have in terms of fitment and aesthetics |

I love my Voodoo knob and the support is second to none. When the clear coat on mine started to fail after a few years they mailed me a new that day without even asking for mine back. |

^No way it's legit carbon fiber.. Too expensive. Usually interior carbon fiber stuff is just cheap plastic and probably off of eBay.

Evo R sells alot of carbon fiber trims for the interior. Thats why i was asking because 80$ would be way too much for just plastic
EVoR's customer service is the worst, ordering from him is a crap shoot. |

So far I've had a razo shift knob and I hate it and also now have a voodoo magnum but I'm not a fan of it either it doesn't seem to screw all the way down onto my short shifter leaves probably 1/4" to 1/2" of space. I was thinking of a cobb but I don't think I like the ball design I don't think I'll be happy 'til I bite the bullet and spend too much on a stock knob in good shape
