BOSE sound system sirius compatible ?

So, to all the new owners, can you tell us if the Radio that came with the BOSE sound system is SIRIUS compatible ???

I'm looking forward to but a sirius antenna but I just hope that the radio will accept it !

Btw, any of you know if there is a way to subscribe even if I am in Canada and that they don't OFFICIALLY support it.

Define "Sirius Compatible" for me, please. Are you talking about it being able to control a Sirius tuner, or what?

What I mean by compatible is a way to integrate the reciever without making it look like it is modified.

Sirius compatible means that the antenna and tuner is controlled by the main radio and that it displays the songs name on the stock radio...

The current Bose tuner in the RX-8 is not satellite "ready". In order to have XM or Sirius satellite reception, you will have to swap out the Bose tuner/receiver and replace it with a satellite receiver, .... or do this if decide on XM:

DELPHI XM SKYFi System .

This is the route I'm taking. I have this unit at home, connected to my home stereo, using the home adapter unit. To use it in your car, you buy the car adapter unit & FM modulator. One subscription - just move the small receiver back and forth with you.

Unfortunately, no.

That's why I was asking. Is it "Sirius Compatible" as in can it control a satellite tuner? No.

Can you hook one up? Yes, but via an FM modulator, and that would require a separate, external display/controller.

I'm looking at getting XM radio for my RX. I've done extensive research on mounting options and have decided to use a flexible gooseneck mount that will attach to the mounting bolt on the passengers side seat, close to the center console. Any better ideas out there or suggestions? Also, any suggestions on Delphi versus Sony XM unit?

I don't think the Sony "Plug-n-Play" unit is available any more -- besides, there were a lot of problems with it, you probably don't want it anyway (it had a noisy cooling fan, it was bulky and ugly, and it had reliability issues).

The Delphi is a very nice unit, with the best display you can get for an XM system. However, the car cradle is a bit big and cumbersome, and I've never seen a gooseneck mount that looks halfway decent.

The good news is that the Delphi isn't the only option. Pioneer makes a very nice FM-modulated unit (like the Delphi), the GEX-FM903XM. The great thing about the Pioneer unit is that the display/control is very small, it will fit almost anywhere (the receiver is a small flat box that you bolt in the trunk). The drawback to the Pioneer's small display is that it only displays the first 10 characters of the artist or title.

Does anybody know if the standard sound system has audio input jacks? I would prefer that route than the FM modulated one, and the Audiovox player does this. I'd end up hiding the ugly little thing, but that isnt a big deal for me.

Edit: Saw the Delphi at CC a while ago and it has line outs too. If the base stereo in the 8 has line inputs I would be VERY pleased :D

The advantage of the Delphi SkiFi is that you can buy a home adapter base unit and hook it to your home stereo. That is where my SkiFi is right home - connected to my home stereo. One subscription - just move the receiver back and forth.
