Have you adjusted any of the settings. I find that a +5 Treble and a +4 Bass gives it a lot better sound. What are you predominantly listening to? CD's? MP3's? Radio? I only ask because there is a lot of different opinions around here about the Bose system. I listen to pretty high end home audio stuff and I dont find the Bose system as bad as people make it out to be. I actually want to hear the bose system that people say suck.

I think it has hi's but it aint got no lows. But sometimes I get some great bass lines..I just think the frequency response is very tailored as to produce as little distortion as possible. To get the low, deep base, you need at least a 10+ inch driver in good, closed box. There isnt enough cubic feet in the door panel to get optimal response from a sub. The 9" woofers in there have a very flat response, which some people really like. Not to knock anyone here, but the average person sometimes mistakes "distortion" as Bass. Loud music is not the same as Clean music....althought the door amps have 10% THD...not good.

Just out of interest, what do you have in your home audio system?

Bose isn't that bad, but for an upgrade.. it isnt much. I have JL audio XR's, components in the front and coaxials in the back runnin off a JL 300/4... theres no comparison. Bose is terrible if you compare it to high end car audio. But as a stock car stereo, it istn that bad... in my opinion it isnt worth upgrading to the Bose system, save your money and buy a better stereo.

I'm running a Cary Audio CD player and amps, Nottingham turntable w/Koetsu cartridge, Sony SACD player, Art Audio preamp, Coincident Total Victory speakers, and Shunyata cables all around.
Best,
