blown amp sub fuse??

i was driving to school today and i heard a few thump/ pops... a minute later i had NO BASS.... im in the middle of fibeglassing my trunk so as of right now theres a layer of masking tape on top of the grill covers.. would that be a cause of them to blow? music was played for about 5 minutes.... system is a 500.1 jl amp and 2 10w6v2's... my friend said the amp might be too strong and te 500.1 was designed for w7's but i dont buy that... any suggestions/recomendations on what to do?

You need to check all your wiring first. It is possible that you dont have a good ground or some of you wires could be arcing. You also need to have your amp dialed in corretly. Make sure that you are not beating up those subs past distortion.

JL amps are not the greatest for heat resistance and sustained beating

the 500/1 is actually a little underpowered for those w6's benny. check your fuse, what rating fuse are you using. what gauge wire are you using.

mstyles, what alpines are you using.........
