I'm looking for a new radio to put in my car. I have the Bose system. Will it matter whether or not I put in a radio from the base model in to my car with the Bose system?

Yes. You cannot put a non-bose radio into the Bose system. Or vice versa.

Technically you can :P but after all that work you might as well go all out aftermarket.

Dunno why you'd want to switch from Bose to base though.

Sure you literally can. They're the same shape....... But it just sends a double amplified signal to the speakers causing extreme distortion. Another member already went through this when his dealer put in a non-Bose radio in replacement of his Bose by mistake.

you might want to think about just adding a sub. Many have found the Bose system to lack low end but sound OK in the upper and mid ranges. There are a number of simple installs with a powered sub that help the Bose immensly.

spideyman44 inquired about replacing the Bose system with a base model. That would lead one to believe that spideyman44 is either unhappy with the performance of his current Bose system or that it is not working. Others answered spideyman44's direct question directly, which addresses the second of the two possible scenarios. I took the tack that perhaps spideyman44 was looking to improve the sound rather than replace a nonfunctional system. So rather than spam spideyman44 with an 11 word response that does not in any way address his concern, I used my brain and suggested an alternate path that may provide a low cost solution. This solution has been discussed in numerous other posts on this forum. It was reasonable for me to assume that spideyman44 is on this forum to share, and share in, the combined experiences and wisdom from other members. Thanks for adding to the rich data set for all of us.
