there is no install kit available for the rx-8 as yet, you have to have something custom fabricated. believe me i know, i work for a stereo shop.

It is 100% custom fabrication on this....finally finished the ones I was building and now.... off to the paint shop, just a little of aluminum work left for the top center speaker grill next.

i hate to say it, but its not something that can be mass produced easily. if i were doing that here in my shop (i dont own, but manage) i would charge somewhere between 300 to 500 bucks for something like that. very time consuming

There is much more to it than just fabricating a dash piece, you also have to rewire the majority of the climate control system and factory radio...unless you don't want any climate controls. Mazda incorporated the climate control circuitry inside of the factory radio, thus, unplug the factory radio to install the N1, will leave you with no climate controls or display. So it is a huge job by any means that your average big box store is more than likely not going to want to take on.

e-mail me at forbidden@telus.net and I will send you some pic's of what is going on.
