Heh, my head unit is my android phone. Phono jack to 4v line converter to two-way splitter to amp.
There's a an app called subsonic that lets you stream video/music from a home server running the subsonic windows server application. Since I'm a geek I run my own server, so I just stream my entire library to my phone. The phone is set to cache 4gb of mp3s so in case of repeats it doesn't have to download again (or of I lose 3G signal, i have 4g of music still).
All my mp3s are 192 or higher vbr. The phone also has a multi-band equalizer, etc. The only thing it can't do is front/rear balance from the phone, but the amp can do that.
If I get a phone call, the phone automatically ramps down the volume and pauses the song and then sends voice to speakers, unless I have a bluetooth headset paired, in which case it'll go to the headset.
Also with built-in google nav, it will ramp down the music volume, give me a direction, then ramp the volume back up again. GPS/NAV/Music/Video/Bluetooth/Internet...the only thing it can't do is play CDs!

RF T1 15"
RF Power 1000.1
RF Prime 300.4
Boston Accoustics 6x9s front and rear

Box was built to RFs specs for a sealed enclosure. b/c of the size of the box required for the sub, i had to build the box inside the trunk. PITA but well worth it. The 2 amps are on the trunk floor closest to the seats so i have access to tune and adjust them thru the passthru. accents were painted black w metallic flakes and hot rod red. looks orange in the pics, but its really hot rod red. white lights shine thru the cracks at night where the R and F are for a nice outline at night.
This is the old T1 12" i had before i bought the 15" with the 2 amps on either side:
