Audio Solution for non-Ipod MP3?

I've searched through just about every thread so far, and can't seem to find a definitive answer to this question:

Is there any sort of aftermarket product that will allow me to connect my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra MP3 player to the Rx8?

I've seen a few 'hacks' which require soldering , thus voiding the warranty and even Overlords 'upcoming' modular solution.

However the most complete aftermarket solution I've seen is the IceLink system, found here http://www.densionusa.com/x/index.ph...=375&Itemid=79 but it seems to ONLY be for IPOD.

I'm mostly interested in of course the 1/8 input jack, but if there was a way to control the unit via the steering controls, ala icelink, that'd be even better.

I do NOT want to have to solder anything and my RX8 will have the standard Bose CD audio. (Getting it this week some time)

My only solution that I've been able to locate is the good old cassete drive and a standard cassette/headphone adapter.

Anyone with a better solution? Some threads mention PIE, but somehow I think they aren't talking about the cherry variety and I've not seen a link.

check it out

If you search for how we installed satellite radio, you should be able to use the same adapters to install your MP3. PIE is a company making adapters. you would need the PIE/alpine CD changer adapter, and the rca in adapter to plug into that. then you need a headphone plug to RCA adapter and it all connects together and works like a dream. email me at drtoothfixer@yahoo.com for specifics if you can't find them on here. I think the site is www.pie.net, and the link directly to the main part you need is http://www.pie.net/index-2-details.c...dID=MAZ/PC-ALP

Aha! Now I see..

So just to make sure I'm thinking of everything in context..

I'd need PIE's Part number: MAZ/PC-ALP To convert the Bose Head Unit's Pins to Alpine Standard (I'm assuming that the bose has an extra 16 pin plug if not using a cassette or 6disk?)

Then from that adapter, i'll need PIE's ALP/M-RCA to convert thier Alpine plug to standard Left/Right RCA jacks.

Then a quick stop to Radio Shack for 1/8" plug to RCA and i'm all set...

Sounds pretty simply, and since it's all modular, it should really void the warranty of the stereo (or at least it's removable if need be rather easily).

Now to find a shop nearby and price those parts out... Dealer wanted to charge me $450 for a cassette in a new RX8.. walked right out the door hehe
