I'm kinda new to this upgrading thing but I know I want to build a custom stereo into my car. The audio console is cool and everything but I want to get an after market audio player that can hook up to my Ipod and play DVDs as well while at the same time not messing with the Navigation system. Right now I have the Bose stereo and the nav system in my '05 RX-8. I'm about to do a total overhaul with the audio system including building a speaker layout in the trunk. The only problem I see is the audio console in the car lol. If anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Just send me a private message or post in here if you can help me. Thanks!

 

Search around, there are a couple people here that have done a custom setup of some sort. I think a few might have bought a kit that puts a LCD screen where the head unit is, and they put an aftermarket one elsewhere...

 

Basically doing your own things sucks because the AC controls are built into the stereo so when you remove it you loose AC and heat.

There are 2 ways around this -
relocate the main radio and extend the wires to connect to the AC controls

Or buy a kit with a new AC control box. Corksport is the only one I know of. Its expensive but freaking AWESOME and super easy to install.

Spend some time searching and looking on here then decide how you wanna proceed

 

Yeah, for me price is not an issue. It is my project car and I just need to know how and where to find lol. That way I can have a goal to save towards. I'm definatly goinog to check it out.
