Umm, we cant link to your cart.

It depends how much the RMS wattage of the subs are, and what resistance the speakers can handle.

Simple answer:

If you buy cheap stuff, about $1500 is my guess for everything.

If you buy top quality: $8000 at least.

For all that in a medium sized car. you would need 20 ft of 0/1 gauge wire, 20 ft of 4 gauge wire, and maybe 40 ft of 8 gauge wire and 50 ft of 16 gauge wire to be safe. Plus extra batteries and caps and fuses, so add another 500ish in there just for wiring.

First, we need to know if the subs are dual 4ohm or dual 2ohms to dertermine what amp is needed. Umm,4 of 8x10 speakers, I have not heard of these before. There's 6x9 coaxials. The amount of power your subs produce will determine what you need to upgrade in wiring & youe electrical system. Also I'm assuming this will be in a RX-8 right? If so, why do you need 4-12 inch subs? Is it a personal preffernce ror you want it as loud as possible because 2 good to great subs will beat out 4 so so subs. You'll need probably 2 mono amps & a 4 channel amp or 2- 2channel amps that can be bridged & a 4 chanel amp. Brandname is up to you on how much you wanna spend so put out a number & maybe we can give some suggestions on brands.

Personally you are nuts.... instead of shopping on line, why not go into a specialty shop and find out what in fact you need before you run out and buy all the wrong gear. Is this indeed a RX8 or something different?

2 orian hcca 275 g4's for the subs and a "clean" amp for the 8x10's the orian is stable down to .5 (I've seen one down to .33) and pumps an ungod amount of power. With two of these things hooked up you will need to watch yourself cause they will rip the coils off of your subs (not like I've done that :D )

thank you forbidden, i just hate it when someone shops online, gets all the wrong stuff for their car, tries to hook it up, cant figure out why it isnt working right, then comes to me to fix their problems and complains when i have to charge to fix their mistakes (ie cutting the factory radio harness), and then sell them the right equipment for what they are trying to do.

If you want a very very good system & willing to pay the price like you said, you will be looking at spending 10k+ for the equipment & 3k+ for the installation.oh yea, please listen to what Forbidden & Lurch advise to not go online to buy all you're equipment because you'll probably end up buying the wrong stuff that doesn't match up. Visit your local dealer that does good work & they will work with you to build you a system from your budjet you give them. Since your parents are paying it for you, go all out! :D

Yes you can get a good system around 7-8k but it wont be that very good status you were reffering to but . I'll advise you to spend around $5k in all the equipment & spend the $3k for the installation to make your system look good!
Go to some of the local dealers(not good guys, circuit city, best buy ) & check their photo album on their previous work & talk to them about what you want done.

Alot of places install simple stuff for free like a deck or some simple speakers that needs no mod to fit but custom work is never free if you want your system with good sound stage & have it look good at the same time will cost you! If you're in Jersey, you shouldn't have problem finding a good shop.Look for a shop that competes in IASCA & go to them for your installation! I'm sure theres some in Jersey.

dont go to a place that offers free installation, the guys doing the work are generally paid by the hour as you are not being charged for the install. a shop like the one i manage, where the installer is paid "flat rate", means that the installer is paid a percentage of the total labor charge, meaning that he will do a better overall job installing the equipment, as if it comes back for warranty, he will have to fix it and forfeit time on another job meaning he is not making money.

as to budget for a system, they range from simple head unit and speaker upgrades for a couple hundred bucks, up to 25g's or more. any good shop will be able to fit you into a budget that you are comfortable with, just dont go in and say i want to spend 8 grand, what can you give me, that gives the sales person license to sell you for every penny you are willing to spend. go in, tell em what you are looking for, and let them put a package together for you

if you are getting an 8, budget at least 1000 if you are going to replace the head unit

One last advice is to learn as much about car audio as possible before spenind your money. Spending alot of money on something you dont know much about is not a great idea. Go to www.Crutchfield.com to learn some basics about car audio. There's a ton of websites but crutchfield has some simple information that helps out. I learned as much as possible about car audio before I decided to spend a ton on a car audio system. Having some knowledge will probably help you out decide what you want to be done to your system & also help decide what brands you want but also listen to people's system will help too( listen to speakers in a shop is different from listening it in a car environment)

i cannot agree with this sentiment more. you may listen to a speaker on a display board, and it sounds good, but then in one car it sounds like absolute cr@p, and in another sounds better than it did on display.

brands to look at for quality product,

speakers

jl audio
diamond
alpine

electronics

alpine (almost always excellent)
kicker
eclipse
diamond (small but powerfull amps)

figure out a couple of brands that you may be interested in, and check out their websites. usually the website will list the authorized dealers in your area. again, pretty much stay away from a big box retailer (best buy, circuit city, etc) though tweeter isnt bad, they are expensive. usually the independent dealers will be the best to deal with, as they usually have a loyal staff that know their stuff, and are very competetive.

THD is one of the most confusing thing in audio to me. It is also misleading because most manufacturers just list THD but some of the highend manufacturers list THD + noise. I never bother to really read into & learn more about THD but the lower the better & also all those brands you listed do make quality products .

im sorry but a thd of less than 1 percent isnt really noticable without expensive equipment. most companies tout this spec or that spec to say, my amp is better than yours, thats the whole reason for so long we had to put up with manufacturers putting a [B]2400 watt[B] advertisement on a 6 " square amp with power terminals that might accept 8 guage wire.

alpine is now advertising the SNR of their amps, which is signal to noise ratio. even the RMS figures of amps is really an advertising gimmick. what you need to look at is the quality of components used in the construction of the amp, the overall quality, ease of use, and more than anything a good warranty is mandatory. diamond is now warranting their amps for LIFE as long as it is installed by an authorized dealer.

old eclipse stuff is good, old xtant, if you can get your hands on em, ppi art series or pc series stuff is awesome (not the more recent chrome pc amps). kicker is great for all out power, kenwood is an alright combo of power and quality (i rate em between alpine and kicker)

You want all out, and you're in New Jersey, check out a place called Sounds Impossible. You can easily spend 8 g's there and get an amazing sounding system. They'll set you straight too....

I spent 10k on my last system from them and I won a couple IASCA sound quality events with it. It was also *very* loud and I only had 2 12" subs. I could rattle 2nd floor ceiling tiles coming in to the parking lot at work.
