Alarm not flashing the indicators

My car has mysteriously stopped flashing its indicators when the alarm is armed and disarmed. The alarm still functions fine as an alarm, but without the visual confirmations.

Anyone else seen similar behaviour?

Not yet. Don't know what fuse it might be - the alarm is still functioning, as are the indicators and hazards - it's just the connection between the two that appears to have gone away. I'll have a rummage at lunchtime.

Do you have the shock sensor upgrade? Could be a flaky connection at the shock sensor.

Found the problem

User error: the trunk was ajar. I must've popped it open sometime over the weekend, and then forgoten about it. Since it doesn't swing open when it's unlatched, I've aparently been driving around with it ajar for the past couple of days.

Close the trunk and voila, the lights flash as they should. Kind of a neat feature, actually, though if it's mentioned in the manual I must've missed it.

As I was reading through the thread I was getting ready to tell you the trunk may be open. Happened to me, too.:p I find that occasionally, I hit the trunk button instead of the unlock button.

Since the trunk doesn't fly open when it's unlatched, it'd be nice if there was some sort of indication on the dash that it was ajar. Perhaps the "door open" light could also indicate "trunk open". I know I'd be pissed if I lost something out of the trunk because I hit a bump and it flew open because it wasn't properly latched.

I'm amazed at this: even my cheap 8 year old Rover has a warning light for the tailgate being open. Astonishing that Mazda missed this. They put a luminous sign and opening catch INSIDE the boot/trunk but no light on the dash. Doh!

I'm just surprised that in a couple days you never hit any bumps! I running over speed bumps all day long, because of my driving conditions I would have noticed the the truck open. At least the issue is solved!

New to the forum. Question, does it flash when you lock the door using the door lock button on the door panel? It use to flash before I had the alarm upgrade. Does your flash with the upgrade? Thanks for the input.

Actually, I'm surprised they didn't include a Trunk Ajar light - the RX-7 had an idiot light when the hatch was open or not closed fully. Which, in a hatchback car, is kind of obvious to not even need an idiot light...
