Alarm on Car - Blink?

Hi all,

Can someone please answer me this:

When you lock and unlock your RX-8 using your alarm remote, do your headlights and taillights flash?

I wasn't sure if mine did it before (can't remember), but I just got my car out of the service dept, and both locking and unlocking does not trigger any flashing of the headlights + taillights.......

It won't flash the headlights and taillights, but it should flash the amber indicator lights to show that the alarm has been armed or disarmed.

If the doors lock but the lights do not flash, check that the trunk isn't ajar. If any of the doors, trunk, or hood are not fully closed, the alarm will not arm and the lights will not flash.

If everything is closed but it's still not arming, take the car back to the dealership, because they've buggered something.

Can you turn the horn off? I don't mind the lights but sometimes I like to sneak up on people and it's hard to do if the horn honks while you're walking away. Plus it's loud as **** in the parking garages and even my own garage.

The horn only sounds if you press LOCK twice. It only takes a single press to lock all the doors and arm the alarm - the horn blast is simply an audible confirmation that it's already locked if you press it again. Don't want the horn? Don't press it twice.

(Note, it takes two presses of UNLOCK to open both doors, but both lock simultaneously with only one press of LOCK.)

I think mine does the horn on the first push but maybe I've got OCD and push it too many times without realizing it. I'll focus when I do it next time and see if that solves it. I just hope my ADD doesn't keep me from focusing.
