Air freshener ruined my dash!!!

I went to Turtle Wax yesterday to have my car cleaned. I chose the lemon air freshener, which they are supposed to spray on the floor mat. Seems, the punk (yes, punk -- he ruined my car!) decided to spray the AIR near the ebrake and the piano black dash.

I was able to borrow a towel from the drying guy to wipe off the ebrake, but wanted to get home to clean off the dash. I showed it to the manager, and he admitted that was not cool to be spraying that stuff around.

So... I go to clean the dash off and find that the spray has EATEN into the piano black dash panel!!!!!!!!! Yes, there are little bubbles where he sprayed it!

Stupid PUNK!

I would be back down there as soon as they are open on monday or whatever and asking for however much it costs to replace all that... since you pointed it out it should be no problem proving that it was them...... i never get my car air freshened... not beucase i thought it would mess up the car but because it gives me a headache and smells like cat ****....

Sorry to see that. Hopefully they will take care of it for you. I'm sure they will w/ a little bit of persistence on your part. This is why nobody cleans my car, but me. I even ask the dealer to write on my tickets "No courtesy wash".

Good Luck!

That happened to my friend's Lancer. Except with store bought liquid freshener. A little spilled and basically ate his dash for dinner.

Stuff like that is the reason why I will never let anyone else clean my car. I had a civic and took it to a place that cleans cars. Paid for an express detail which was about 40 bucks (wanted it clean because i was going to sell it) and left the mats all wet so the next day they smelled and they did not clean it well at all. Luckily everything was fixable. When I got my RX-8 I went out and got all the things i would need to clean it myself. Even though its prob 100 degrees out I love the satisfaction of a clean car. Sorry to hear about your dash that sucks.

OK, so I went to Turtle Wax today and they wrote up a damage report. I have to go to Mazda and get an estimate (wonder how much that will be) and corporate will cut me a check.

And yea, I almost didn't post this cuz I took my baby to *a car wash*!!!

I have an annual wash card for the winter months (when you can't wash your car yourself around here) and found myself too busy to wash her the way she should have been ... guess I learned my lesson the hard way

Ouch Red, sorry to hear about that. I thought about taking mine into one of those places, but then decided that if I can't do it, I will just let it be dirty. I don't want anyone else touching my baby, I won't even let my friends help me wash her (how sad is that?)!! Let us know the outcome.

Hey my dash is a little scratched up. Maybe I can follow your lead, get lucky and end up with some dumb **** spraying something on my piano dash, that way I can get them to buy me a new fresh one.

Since a thread about air freshener ruining a car is already started, I will add that a Car-Freshner (pinetree shaped) laid touching any plastic in your car for a period of time, will eat it like acid. Click here.
