why not just try to find a cheap pair of oem tweeters from a part out or something. No sense in spending money on name brand tweeters when it sounds like you dont have a good set of support speakers and a solid amp to drive them.

The worst thing you can do is get a solid set of audio accessories and not have the proper power to drive them.

The factory Bose tweeters have a small cap soldered on them to work as a HP filter. Not sure about the base model tweeters. If so, you'll need a pair with that as well. Either soldered right to the tweeter or separate HP filters that are designed to sit inline with them.

I noticed the base ones do as well. I think most tweeters do, right? Also, are the connectors for the tweeters re-usable or must I start splicing??

Don't know what you mean by "re-usable." I mean obviously your aftermarket tweeters aren't going to have a Mazda connector hanging off them...

I've got my old set of factory non-bose tweeters if you want them. Just cover shipping and maybe like $10 so I can buy a beer or something? Let me double check after work if your interested.

It's from my Series 2 but I'm sure it's all the same. They have the capacitor on the tweeter. It's just the tweeters only not the mirror cover/sail pod.

Whoa... brain fart oO I do not know why I wrote connectors/splicing. I meant the sail pod where the tweeters are... I guess I will have to start drilling?

And thanks for the offer to sell the tweeters, but I went ahead and ordered Infinity Kappa 10.9Ts.... On the way here now! I guess I'll just figure out the details later lolz

Drilling? Drilling what?? The sail pod just pulls straight off the door panel. The factory tweeters are just clipped on the back. Unclip them and they fall right out. Hopefully your tweeters slide right in place and are a tight enough fit that no other support is required to keep them in place (mine were). If not, I'd use a little hot glue to hold em. Doesn't take much. Once the sail pod is back in place, the tweeter isn't going anywhere. I'd just use the glue to maybe keep it from vibrating.
