You should have done a little searching, this really is a very helpful forum. This how to explains how you need to remove the plastic ring from the stock boot and reglue it in your new one.https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...t+boot+install
It sucked for me since I had already installed my monster **** prior, since I had to break that ring to do so. I had to glue all 5 pieces back together, glue it to the boot, and then break it again when I screwed on the ****.lol It doesn't affect anything though.

Yes it is my fault, I should have realized a replacement part would need work, I'll remember to make sure the filament on the lamps I ordered are connected before I install them. As i said,it's a nice piece of kit,in my tiny mind, replacement means replacement.I guess I should have asked 9k where he scored his.

What a hassle, just get one with a ring. Hell for $7.95 shipped, just order one now.

Didn't you get yours from Topgaiters? That's where I got mine and it didn't come with one, maybe they offer some that do.

Who me? No, I have never heard of topgaiters. Mine came with a metal ring and it matches my Voo Doo perfect.

KY Console Leather

I bought my console leather covers from Topgaiters and installed them in about 1 hr. The glue isn't hard to do and it turned out perfect.

Anyone use one of these with a short shift kit? My original boot is shot, and I'm going to put in a short shift kit, so I thought it would be the ideal time to swap the boot as well.
Anyone have a boot custom sized for short shifter?

Haven't seen the $8 ones myself. I used top gaiters. Fit was perfect. Stock ring worked fine.

I didn't even use a ring with mine. Just tucked the excess leather down inside the boot, looks perfectly factory.

I wish I didn't get jacked out of 20 bucks from shift style for TWO un-usable e-brake covers, I really like the extra color there. They still owe me a usable part.

Well, it looks like you know why (you) don't have one. I have one because I think it looks very good and feels good shifting with.

I ordered the cheap one 9krpmrx8 got but with blue stitch... it looked like complete ***... only 3 of the 4 seems had blue stitching, the top ring was crooked and there was a manufactures stamp on the outer (visible) part of the boot. I contacted the seller and they are sending a new one no charge without sending the old one back. well see how the second one looks. I will post pics after I install it (if its worthy of even installing unlike the first one). Im also putting on 3d carbon vinyl on the silver trim as mine is scratched pretty bad.

I got my second boot from ebay and it was still not worthy of being installed on an RX-8... but I did manage to salvage the aluminum ring from it for use with a boot I plan on ordering from redlinegoods.com later on. I want a black alcantra with blue stitch to match my WB. I will post pics whenever that happends lol.

I changed my mind and seceded to use the $8 eBay boot at least for now as you'll see in the pic. Also 3d vinyl on the silver trim do to being scratched to ****. The shift **** is a no name brand also. I plan on using some plastidip on the silver ring of the boot tomorrow.
