Heat can be a problem if you're power hungry. I went with a super low power via processor. My motherboard and processor only draw 13 watts combind and my entire system draws around 45 watts. (thats less power than one of your fog lights) So, for me heat is no problem, the center pass through hardly gets warm.

If you were to go with a more powerful processor (ie intel or amd) you can easily go over 75 watts for the processor and 300 watts for the entire system. That would pose a heat problem.

The specs for my system are as follows:

1 ghz
1 gb ram
120 hard drive
dvd-r/rw
wi-fi
gps

So by no way is it a slow system, but you won't see me playing doom 3 on it.

uhmmph, sry, had to pick my chin up off the keyboard. If I bought everything needed for the carputer (ie. exactly like yours) would you possibly put it together for me? Maybe for some dough....? We live close to eachother.

Love your car.

Of course I would; I think we should make a sub-forum for carputers. What did you buy so far?
