viper 791xv is awesome, have it on my car benny, plus you CAN do remote start as the 8 does have a neutral safety switch, that if it is connected to the alarm correctly, will not allow the remote start to engage with the car in gear

the viper 791 isn't manual tranny safe. if you have to manual and you want to be on the safe side.... either get the clifford g5 series alarm/ remote start system or get a compustar. both of these systems are manual safe.
in my own car i have the clifford avantgaurd 5. it's THE best SECURITY system on the market... here the link to check out the system that i have..... right here!

and it takes more than a few hours for this system to get done. plan on leaving your car at the shop for a full day. even the best installer w/ advance knowledge of the system take atleast 4-6 hours.

long ago, and many, many times I have pointed out the nuetral safety switch to people looking at installing remote start on their manual cars. Mazda has a nuetral switch that knows when the car is or isn't in gear. A good installer will simply tie this as well as the e-brake into the alarm. There is no need to go through some procedure to let the alarm know you will want to remote start...rather, upon remote starting the vehicle, the alarm system will first look for the e-brake, and if its on, then it will look for the nuetral switch...and if that senses nuetral, the car will start. Its actually very simple. Somewhere on here I posted a pdf from the workshop manual of the nuetral switch...just do a search.
As for alarm, anything from directed will do. They make both the viper and the clifford. the viper has more addon modules including tilt/height (incase of towing or rim theft), parimiter sensor, GPS tracking, etc. Just check out http://www.directed.com

Scytek.....cringe....yikes....shudder....you have a nice car, why on earth would you want a smelly POS in it? Compustar makes a great alarm / rs that is manual transmission right out of the gate. The 2wfm8000as or 2wamas if you don't need uber long longe. www.compustar.org. This is a alarm that I use myself and have had the same brain for the last 6 years now. Not a new model every year like other companies. Just a darn good alarm rs.

Extraordinary Engineering
Bought my 8 used and it had a SR5000 alarm/remote starter. (UNGO ProSecurity by Clarion).
I cannot give a comparison to the other alarms mentioned but I can tell you it works fine.

Why waste money on a car alarm? People ignore them when they go off and they are often a detriment when you go to sell the car. In my opinion, that's what insurance is for.

I think if an aftermarket system has a tilt-sensor to alarm when someone tries to pull it onto a flat-bad that has some value for our cars (not huge value, but some) which can't easily be stolen any other way. I think a car which is alarming on a flat-bed or while loading would attract some attention car thieves wouldn't want. They should be inclined to cut and run without the car.
I'm not in a rush for such an upgrade, but rather than buying a regular remote start I'll get one integrated with a better alarm system that has the tilt/tow sensor.
But that's just my opinion.

dei's 507t will fit that bill quite nicely. it is a tilt/motion sensor. it is not technically a motion sensor, but can be set for either 3 degrees, or ultra sensitive at 1 degree of tilt motion and will set of the alarm. this can usually be integrated with most alarm systems

3 degrees? 1 degree? Actually, that's awesome - that should go off if some inconsiderate jerk decides to sit or even lean on my car in the parking lot (a shooting offense in my book, but I'm not always around to enforce it).
My RX-8 was loaded onto a flat-bed once and I swear it was steeper than 15-degrees (I stalled trying to ease up). Ultra-sensitive is right!
