After market head units

this may be long...

I have already read about the corksport kit that could possibly solve my problem, but i really dont feel like dealing with that kit. I have a custom made face plate or dash kit whatever you want to call it that holds my head unit. Yesterday I installed my stereo and now i dont have AC controls, i can turn on the AC, it will blow cold air out of the vents, but soon i will be leaving Hawaii and need access to heat also and I need to be able to control where the air is blown to. There is also no information coming up on the status bar where the radio/ac information used to be.

What I did:

The circuit board that used to be in front of the radio was detached from the previous stock face plate and used in the instalation of the new radio. I still have the flashers, AC control panel and the status bar wires plugged into the circuit board. My flashers do currently work, although nothing else does. Everything with the radio is fine, and everything is plugged back into the circuit board as it was before.

Is there any way to get this fixed without buying the kit or what will the kit provide me that will solve this problem that I can possibly create or do myself? If anybody needs pictures of what I have done I can provide them.

The AC/Heater controls are integrated into the stock head unit.
The Cork Sport kit includes a module that replaces the ones in the head unit.
You either have to buy the kit or find a schematic of the head unit and build your own module.

or relocate the stock HU somewhere and just run your own form of wire extenders. - Thats the most common home brew option

for ease of use the corksport kit is the only option atm. there is rumored to be another manufacturer coming out with something this year.
