Acc question for Electrical experts
Hi all
I would like to throw a question out to the forum,
Why do the accessories like the radio and Nav turn off when the Starter is turning the engine over to start it?
Maybe the voltage drops too much for the accessories to work safely?
Or do the accessories take up too much juice while the starter motor needs it?
I would really like the music to start when I unlock the car and keep going through engine startup and end when I get out of the car. Am I asking too much or is it possible?
thanks to all contributors in advance

cause it's beyond the accessory position of the key! If you had a start button they would, because you'd turn the key to the accessory position and leave it there while you started! It's not electrical so much as it is mechanical. I would imagine all cars are like this. (At least every single car I have ever been in.) So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be my reasoning.

The starter motor pulls a lot of current and causes a significant transient (temporary disturbance) on the cars electrical system while it is cranking the engine over. This transient can damage your radio etc. so unneccessary electrical equipement (like your radio) is shut off while the engine is cranking to prevent them from being damaged. Most cars do this.

thanks all, and please don't drop cookie crumbs on the seating... :p

Based on the schematic and assuming that there is no discharge results from elsewhere, would this answer this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/startup-electrical-surge-38189/ ?
Shameless plug... Thanks!
